Hellooo!
Thank you so much for checking in with me – hope everything’s good with you 🙂
You may have already seen my blog post about another of my alternative pseudonyms (Becoming Dana Cadelle), but this is all about my author-illustrator persona, Doodles.
Some people might associate the word ‘doodles’ with the absent-minded drawing of simple patterns or abstract pictures. To others, the term ‘doodles’ might evoke images of imperfect scribbled randomness.
For me, Doodles is a nickname bestowed upon me by my dad, and it has stuck with me for as long as I can remember.
I associate the term ‘doodles’ with the uninhibited joy and creative freedom of childhood, of the sense of fun to be found in a silly poem or funny cartoon. And it is this meaning from which I’ve drawn my inspiration, because I’m now using the pseudonym Doodles for a brand-new collection of illustrated children’s books.
I’m aware my artistic capabilities are limited, but the prospect of creating something fun for young readers was just too compelling not to try! So, here’s a quick glance at one of the children’s picture books I’ve created as Doodles, titled Cai and the Cardboard Roll:
Just as with any skill, the illustrating and writing of books for young children will inevitably take a long time to master. But, to keep my workload fresh and fun, I’ll continue to improve my grasp of the skills needed to craft compelling children’s picture books, alongside my other literary projects. I hope you’ll enjoy following my journey as I work towards becoming a better author-illustrator than I am today 🙂
Please watch this space (i.e. follow Dannika Writes…) to stay up to date with my creative adventures…
Thanks, again, for your support!
Best wishes,
Dannika <3
