About
Hi! I’m D.E. Kendall…
Author & Ghostwriter.
I’m delighted you’re here 🙂
I’ve been writing since I could hold a pen (so, around thirty years). I am passionate about using my work to make a difference for the better, as well as helping people share their wonderful stories with the world.
I write for myself in a variety of genres, most notably fiction, young adult (YA), and humour. However, I also have experience of writing poetry, non-fiction, and children’s books.
While I am only able to accept limited ghostwriting projects from September 2022, after over two-and-a-half years of ghostwriting full-time, I’m thrilled to announce that, moving forwards, I will be using my literary skills to inspire young people to read!
I’m fortunate to be working with young people on a full-time basis, to research the most effective themes and genres that encourage them to enjoy reading.
At the moment, I am (still) working on a YA sci-fi series (five years in the making so far), as well as creating books for reluctant readers, those with additional learning needs, those with dyslexia, and children whose reading age doesn’t correlate with their actual age.
My debut novel Larry continues to experience success with both young adult and adult audiences. Comic creation Animals’ Guide to the Human Race is my attempt to support the maintenance of good mental health, and it enjoys an adult readership; predominantly those who don’t have time to read full-length novels. And I can’t forget The Wizard Chronicles, which is popular with a very young fan-base.
Evelyn-Rose’s Magical Adventure was created for my niece to celebrate her fifth birthday, whereas Ryan to the Rescue was created as a gift for one of my nephews – I don’t actively market either of these titles.
I’ve also written books under different pseudonyms, of which a few have been traditionally published, and others self-published, to some success.
Whether it’s my next sci-fi or fantasy novel, equestrian guide, blog post, or even my grandparents’ memoirs, I have a writing project on the go at all times (I’m pretty good at multi-tasking), because I believe variety is important for enjoying creative endeavours. So, if you have a project in mind – even if you’re unsure as to how to begin – I can help.
Not only have I achieved Upper Second-class Honours (2.1) in BA (Hons) English Literature & Creative Writing with the Open University, I also have experience of working in a small press publishing company and I’ve been ghostwriting since around February 2020 – so I have a decent level of general knowledge about the publishing process, including editorial phases, typesetting, and metadata management.
While I do not profess to be an expert in anything, it would be an honour to guide you through the writing and/or publishing process to the best of my ability.

Should you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
One never stops learning in life, the same goes for freelance writing. Every project is an opportunity to learn; something I am privileged to be able to do.
Thank you for reading! 🙂
