A sneak peek at my 2026 projects so far

Hello, hello, hello!

How is it March? Already?! o.O

This is a quick-fire blog post to give you a brief overview of the projects I am currently working on (so you can see that I don’t just spend all my time drinking tea and cwtching my dog in front of the TV)…

Project 1 – My dyslexia-friendly YA sci-fi fantasy series will include a duology of full-length novels, with a few accompanying novellas. For more on this particular project, you can check out my blog post titled After a decade of self-doubt. (Technically, I suppose this counts as multiple projects, but whatever.)

Project 2 – A Dana Cadelle novel that I believe falls under the umbrella of women’s contemporary fiction, but could become a rom com during its first developmental edit. It’s about a tarot card reading librarian and her quest to uncover the identity of her stalker, with a little light-hearted yearning for a handsome yet helpful client thrown in for good measure. The details are yet to be set in stone, though this book should be a fun read for those who enjoy a mystery with slightly ethereal vibes and a splash of romance.

Project 3 – Is another Dana Cadelle novel, yet it has required a heck of a lot more editing that ‘Project 2’. I actually used the discovery writing method to craft the first draft of this novel, which is alien to me since I tend to plot stories to within an inch of their existence before even typing a word. It was fantastic fun to let my imagination run wild for this project! Alas, what I ended up with was a load of random side quests that didn’t flow coherently from one ridiculous scenario to the next. I’m currently halfway through rewriting huge sections of this novel, which is considerably less fun than discovery writing. The story is about sisters who haven’t spoken in almost two years, due to living completely different lives, having to work together to steal a painting in exchange for the safe return of the protagonist’s kidnapped boss. This novel will be packed with twists and turns the reader may not see coming, and will likely be enjoyed by those who read heist novels or women’s contemporary fiction plots that focus on sisterly bonds instead of romantic connections.

Fun fact! It took me just 17 days to write the full first draft manuscript for ‘Project 2’ (63k words), and only 15 days to write the full first draft manuscript for ‘Project 3’ (52k words).

I’ve also got a folder bursting with story ideas, so please keep an eye on Dannika Writes… for updates on my literary adventures! 🙂

Best wishes,

Dannika <3
